Among some, the weather in Scandinavia has a reputation for being cold and windy, but this really only applies to some northern locations during the winter months. Actually, summers in Scandinavia offer very mild, warm weather with plenty of sunshine (or even ONLY sunshine if you travel during the time of the Midnight Sun)!

When I plan my trips, I always find it interesting to see what my destination's weather is like during that month. After all, it's a part of good travel planning:

• Weather in Iceland
• Weather in Greenland

Not everyone has a gift for photography or is able to travel to Scandinavia and its beautiful destinations. So how can you enjoy Scandinavia from your home? Easy. There are beautiful art prints and photographies from Scandinavia available online. I'm currently looking at them to pick a nice set of three poster prints for our living room and they have a good selection in various sizes.

Do you know what it is - or, better yet, can you try to pronounce it?

Each summer, the Karlshamn Baltic Festival - Östersjöfestivalen in Swedish - attracts performers and artists from the regions around the Baltic Sea. During this time in July, Karlshamn's streets are full with musicians offering great music that can fit anyone's taste (jazz, blues, rock, even latin-american music!). In 2009, it takes place July 15-18. More about this interesting festival here.

Countless beaches are located around the city of Stavanger. This is the area where you will find many white, sandy beaches in Norway - most within a 15-40 minute drive. To get there, just follow roads 509, 507 or 44 towards the coast. That will lead you from Stavanger past several beaches, so you can pick your favorite. More about the best beaches in Norway...
